40 Acres and No Mule by Janice Holt Giles was book about life in Kentucky. It told of the hardships and the good times and how everything always worked out. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about KY or living in a rural southern area.

I loved this book because it took me on a journey to a part of the United States that is not known to most readers. And to a time that is not today. And to know people who are unlike any neighbors I have ever had.
I really enjoyed learning the landscape and the problems and the social activities of mountain people. Someone who lives in an urban area (or the suburbs of an urban area) may feel superior to these characters, feel privileged compared to such country types but I really admired many of the people for coping so well with their circumstances. Many seem heroic, even.

I really liked this book and was able to use much of the advice for promoting my own books online. My only complaint is that the yahoo group for authors to exchange info is dead, and so is the message board at the buzz-your site. There is no continuing support or info after you've purchased the book. Still, I'd say it's well worth buying; especially for newbies in the world of self-promotion.

I've already tried some of the suggestions for my eBook and seen results. Plan for the long-term, but get some short-term results. Very up-to-date to include online and offline resources.

Four stars out of a possible four! Highly recommended: This is the BIBLE for anyone who wants to promote their books on the Internet. Douglas Clegg and MJ Rose know all the tricks of the trade, many of which they invented themselves. I wasn't sure what to expect from BUZZ YOUR BOOK, just because I don't normally buy into the idea of self-help books, but I'm glad I took the time to download this! Clegg and Rose taught me literally HUNDREDS of different ways to promote my title that I had never thought of!

I also recommend BUZZ YOUR MP3 for anyone interested in music, BUZZ YOUR ZINE which I'm going to use to promote my online magazine, and BUZZ YOUR ONLINE AUCTION which is just fantastic -- it'll make ebay-sellers go nuts! There are so many great ideas in all these books. I can't wait to see what else Pigeonhole Press puts out next!

Last Kiss is a very graphic and erotic vampire romance. Dominique Adair has written a very sensual love story that will entertain any reader. It quickly moves from one encounter to the next without bogging down. The romance between Elaine and Alex is wonderfully drawn, so much so that you will find yourself devouring the story. I don't believe the cover did this book justice. Alex's vampirism is played down till the end of the story, making this more of a romance than a paranormal. This is a quick read.

This is a wonderful story full of emotion and very sensual love scenes.. its erotica.. with lots of romance... The characters are passionate and full of emotions.. The story of Alexi.. vampire and Elaine.. the incarnation of a past love.. that has always been doomed Alexi to late to save his loves life..This story will entrance you it did me.. Sorry to see it end.... and it is a novella.. but worth reading...for thoses lovers of Vampire Romance Fans..

Marilou is an old friend of my mom, so my opinion is biased. But, if you want to get inside the thoughts that built the Cherokee worldview, this is a good place to start. Unlike so many so-called "Indian" books, this one is authentic, and has soul.

I love all of her work, and these books on tape just add another element to the experience of Selu.

As a woman with ancestors of many cultures, and now raising a child of my own, I found Marilou Awiakta's conversations about Selu precious. Several years ago, I used the margins of my book to add my epiphanies and questions, as Ms. Awiakta suggests. Looking back at those thoughtful notes, I am touched by the way that this book became a journal, weaving its wisdom into my everyday life. I still ponder Ms. Awiakta's words in quiet moments, perhaps having forgotten exactly where they began. The spiral of wisdom that passes through each woman who reads this book did not begin within these pages, but is as old as the Corn Mother herself. I joyfully urge every mother to consider these practical and powerful conversations.

I was #87 is a true story, neither my daughter or I could put this book down until we finished it. It is about a little girl who was severely abused and also diagnosed as being retarded when she was actually deaf and of above average intelligence. The determination and survival of this child is so riviting and also inspiring at the same time. It makes you thankful for what we do have in this life. You will realize that the day to day things we might think of as obstacles or problems are so trivial. I would reccomend this book to everyone. There is a limied supply since it is out of print but it is available through the library also.

I was so touched when I read Anne's book. She went through so much and I cannot tell you how brave I think she is. I wish her all the best. Thank-you Anne. Carole

This was the most moving book I have ever read. I am sad to see it isn't available and very hurt that I cannot share it with my deaf friends. I was shocked to see the amount of abuse this poor gal suffered but sure could relate to how the general public and even family members treat the deaf and hard of hearing. What the brothers did to her was nothing extraordinary. Nothing different than most folks with hearing losses experience, ignorant attitudes, that's all. What is most horrifying about this book is what the school in Bridgewater did, and how many of her so-called friends had no conscience and cheated her, taking advantage of her innocence, robbing her of money and of life. Now this will be hidden forever. I am so upset. Sorry to vent, I just don't know what to do. My heart goes out to Anne, she is one courageous soul and an inspiration for us all to overcome any obstacle.

I thought the book was an easy read. I learned how to choose which process are more conducive to redesign, how to pick redesign project team members, some tips on what to expect from such an effort, how to overcome some of the barriers. I learned which tools work best for a particular project. It answered many of my questions about process design. A great book to get start in process design.

I have read some books on process improvement, reengineering, etc., and this is the most pleasant to read. The concepts are very clear, the steps for improvement are explained in a simple way. If you want to learn how to redesign business processes, this is one of the best to begin with.

This is a lovely little book (barely 100 pages, with pictures) by Gilbert Adair, the author of "Love and Death on Long Island," which traces the life story of the Polish boy, Wladyslaw Moes, who served as the muse for Thomas Mann's novella, "Death in Venice." Moes' story, which follows his fortunes through two wars and his death in the 1980s, is fascinating, and along the way Adair finds time to meditate on Visconti's 1970s film of the book, which, when he saw it, first alerted Moes to the fact that he had been the inspiration for Tadzio, as well as on Visconti's own identification with Aschenbach. Adair further speculates on the novel's position as the top gay classic of all time. I especially liked Adair's observation that another Visconti masterpiece, the woefully neglected "Conversation Piece," represents an updating of the Mann story to post-World War II Italy, with Burt Lancaster in the Aschenbach/Visconti role and Helmut Berger as Tadzio/himself. Readers will note that Adair's own "Love and Death" is yet another updating of the same tale. Taken ounce for ounce, a very substantial read.

This is fine writing. I was especially struck by the opening and closing pages in which Mr. Adair looks at Mann's story and Viconti's film and contextualizes them within the world of the real Tadzio. Just what is it that makes "Death in Venice" so remarkable? What are those themes that shake the public and mesmerize gay (and straight) men? Mr. Adair is an adept writer and thinker. Take the time to read this small tome. You will be glad you did.

After reading such rave reviews, I was quite excited to order this book. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. As I flipped through the pages - I quickly discovered outdated advice. For example, the book warns its women readers of discrimination and sexism and states that women make far less than men in similar positions. Most of its statements are supported by 1995 reports; the same year this book was published.

On the flip side - this book does offer helpful information - although it is somewhat elementary. I bought the book in search of salary negotiation tactics. This book covers advice on interviewing about 90% and 10% on salary negotiating.

Let's face it. Women have a hard time being aggressive. We are raised to be mild-mannered creatures who apologize a lot. To make things worse, we face discrimination in the work force. But, of course, that could change. I marvel at The Smart Woman's Guide to Interviewing and Salary Negotiation's intelligent and useful information on how to be confident and persuasive in a job interview.

There are many valuable steps one can take to land the job one wants and the salary one deserves. Of course, the book discusses dressing properly and speaking clearly and confidently during an interview - I have had plenty of information on how to achieve that. But the book also discusses gender discrimination, sexual harassment, stereotypes in the work force, and describes ways to negotiate the salary you deserve and how to demand a raise.

Job interviews aren't easy - in fact, they are rather fastidious. Which is why I highly recommend this book. Do you need some direction on how to achieve in life? Read the book. Trust me, it is money well spent.

This is an excellent book that I have used several times and have lent to many friends. Buy it!

It a really good book, & the cover is beautifully decorated too. Good for young readers and can be addicted to it. All Wishbone fans out there must getit!!!!!

This book is a wonderful read for the younger children.It introduces them to the splender of mysteries whale letting them have a lot of fun. With the mystery of the world through Wishbones eyes you almost wish you could bring that out in every animal.

For Wishbone fans all over the world "Case of the Unsolved Case" is a good book.Especially if you like the other books or if you like the TV show!

"The Mercenary" is Adair's debut novel written in 1994 and published as a Harlequin Temptation series romance.

This is the story of T-FLAC operative Marc Savin and his partner's sister Victoria Jones. T-FLAC (Terrorist Force Logistical Assault Command) is an elite government unit, a cloaked counterterrorist force beyond even the CIA.

When Victoria (Tory) realizes that her brother is being held prisoner, she enlists the help of Marc Savin to rescue him. Tory and her brother are twins and they have a special ability to communicate with each other telepathically. For this reason Marc needs Tory to help him locate his partner and he takes her along on the rescue mission.

This story held my interest because of Adair's ability to produce an exciting read when it comes to action, adventure and suspense. But the romance portion of the story was disappointing. There was no indepth character development. Other than their mission together and some background info on their past lives, I feel I didn't get to know Marc and Tory too well. Their relationship followed a stilted and dated format but you will find some steamy sex scenes in this story. Another slight problem in this story was that I found it difficult to believe the mental telepathy conversations between Tory and her brother.

I would have liked a longer, more indepth story, but even with these distractions, I feel that Ms. Adair did a good job with this short format series title. This title is currently out of print and very hard to find at used book stores. Copies are available through amazon.com auctions and zshops.

I Could not put down Hide and Seek and Kiss and Tell so I fugured it would be worth spending a little extra cash to get this book in an ebay auction. I am so glad that I spent the $9.00. It was so WORTH IT. This story was great. She always leaves you wanting more! I have been hoping that she will continue to write about the other brothers from Hide and Seek and Kiss and Tell - Now I am hoping that one day she will come back with a story about Tory's brother....

I throughly enjoyed Cherry Adair's "The Mercenary". It has enough suspense and spice to really keep your attention and sets the stage for "Kiss and Tell". Can't wait for her next book!!
